Faith Foundations

Mufti Hammad Jogiat

Mufti Hammad Jogiat was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. His journey into Islamic studies began at an early age when he memorized the Quran by age 14. He spent 3 years pursuing Islamic studies at Darul Uloom Blackburn in the United Kingdom, after which he transferred to South Africa where he completed a 6-year Alimiyyah program at Darul Uloom Azaadville. He then pursued a 2-year Takhassus Fil Ifta/Fiqh at Darul Ifta Mahmudiyyah. During this period, Mufti Hammad earned a master's diploma in Islamic Finance, showcasing his commitment to bridging traditional knowledge with contemporary financial practices Mufti Hammad currently serves as an Imam, speaker, teacher, and counsellor at the Cambridge Muslim Society, a speaker/instructor at Wijhah Initiative, and a Shariah Advisor for multiple Islamic Financial institutions.

Shaykh Ammar Jakda

Shaykh Ammar Jakda was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. Upon completing his highschool education, he went on to complete the memorization of the Qu'ran in Gujarat, India. His interest in Islamic studies took him first to Blackburn, UK, where he spent three years studying at the Islamic seminary Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda. He would then go on to spend another three years at the prestigious Nadwatul Ulama in Lucknow, India, where he graduated as an 'alim. He spent the next two years in Istanbul, Türkiye, specializing in the Islamic rational disciplines of theology and logic. The Shaykh recently served as an instructor in Hadith studies and Hanafi fiqh at Al Khalil Academy in Toronto, ON, and is currently an instructor at the Wijhah Initiative in Cambridge, ON.

Shaykh Usman Qamar

Shaykh Usman Qamar was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. He began his Quranic studies while in high school and finished memorization of the Quran when he was 16. He spent the following seven years in the UK and South Africa studying traditional Islamic sciences. He has completed a double major in psychology and philosophy at the University of Waterloo. He serves as religious educator at ISNA Canada, alongside having founded Wijhah Initiative, a not-for-profit organization that facilitates social and spiritual events that are welcoming, meaningful, and nurturing and foster a sense of community for young adults and youth.
